The Running Company

South Adelaide, South Australia

Our South Adelaide store was launched in March 2015 because The Running Company – Adelaide found that we had so many clients from both the Southern and Northern side of Adelaide make the long trek to experience the pinnacle level of service that we deliver.

With Port Noarlunga being close to Chris’s heart and a great location for running with the beach, road and trails all within a stone’s throw, The Running Company – South Adelaide is the only place South of the city to get your running addiction sorted.

Meet the Team

Chris Chapman, Founder The Running Company
Chris (Chicken as he is more affectionately referred to – it’s all in the legs!) is the founder of The Running Company. Hailing from South Australia, Chris has over 20 years experience in the sporting goods industry, close to nine of those years with Nike. Across various roles, from retail in London, to footwear marketing in Melbourne, then onto EKIN and National Sales both based in Sydney. A combination of a love for great product, being a runner and just a care for wanting to help people make the best footwear decisions to stay injury free is what drives him.

1. Favourite run
Yurrebilla Trail run.
2. Best Running Moment
a) Helping my good friend Lucy smash her goal of sub-4 hour marathon in Melbourne.
b) Winning my hometown marathon in 2006.
3. What do you love about running?
It doesn’t matter how much money you have, what your surname is, what you look like or how popular you may be, running is the ultimate leveller. At the 38kM mark of a marathon, all that bullsh*t goes out the window and it’s at that point that a person’s true humility and personality come shining through – that’s what I love about running. It’s true, raw honesty.

The Running Company

Angela Parkin

Angela was born and lived in Scotland until she was 18. Encouraged by a very sporty family, she went off to work and train horses in England and in Europe and then arrived in Australia in 1999. She went to the Sydney Olympics with the Australian Eventing Team (and won gold) before moving to Adelaide. Angela started running after she had her first child seven years ago. From finding it an effort to complete 1km, she stuck at it, moving to 12km and then half marathons following the birth of her second child. She has since completed marathons and enjoys running trails around the hills of Adelaide and being part of the local running community.

1. Favourite run
Yurrebilla 56km Trail Ultra – such a tough course but so much fun. Everyone is so encouraging and the volunteers and food stations are amazing!
2. Best Running Moment
Probably running my first half marathon as this is where I realised that I actually could run and run quite well!
3. What do you love about running?
It makes me feel free, it’s “my time”, those endorphins released, to challenge me, to explore, to socialise, sets a good example for my kids and it makes me happy.
