The Shire is the heartland of Triathlon in NSW.
Founded by Todd Ridge, 2017 Hawaii Ironman competitor and having completed over 10 Ironman events, Todd is all things Triathlon and all things The Shire, living around the corner from the store.
With Todd’s life changing experience through running and triathlon, The Running Company – The Shire offers not only the finest choice in running shoes but expert, honest advice to runners of all levels, comprising our unique in-store gait analysis service.
By far the best customer service I've ever received in any store (at least that I can remember). No sales pressure, tons of helpfulness and input so that you can find the right shoes for you.
I got sent here by my physiotherapist. Fantastic service. They will go the extra mile to insure that you have a shoe that really fits and works for your specific issues. They don't just fit you in the shop, but make sure it still works for you once you've had it on the road too. Well recommended. I won't go anywhere else anymore.
The Running Company – The Shire Running Club is completely FREE. It’s also a great opportunity to keep fit, meet new people, talk about running and triathlon with experienced athletes and enjoy some of the best running tracks in the world.
Every Wednesday night – 5:30pm for 6:00pm start.
Shop 2, 165-171 Oak Road Kirrawee, NSW 2232
We try to vary it every week but it’s usually around 10km at varying paces so it’s inclusive for people of all abilities as opposed to exclusive and only for faster runners.
Todd fostered a passion for footwear when he worked at The Athlete’s Foot in his hometown of Perth. He then moved across to Nike and managed the factory store in Western Australia before transferring to Sydney in 2000, just in time for the Olympics. Following his stint with Nike – which included running two factory stores and a sales rep role – Todd swapped running shoes for bike wheels when working for companies like Giant and Bianchi. It was through his work that Todd witnessed his first Ironman race where he was overheard saying: “These guys are riding 180km and then running a marathon, they’re freakin’ crazy”. This was a turning point in Todd’s life – he was so moved that he took up the challenge and has now completed nine Port Macquarie Ironman races.
1. Favourite run
The 14.5km Bondi to Coogee and back. The view is amazing – we take it for granted.
2. Best Running Moment
Running a 3:24 marathon at the 2014 Busselton Ironman and running with my best mate to help him achieve his goal of completing the Melbourne marathon.
3. What do you love about running?
Love the feeling of being fit and fast… most of the time! I also enjoy the competition.
